It is with great sadness that we wish to inform you that Dr. Jitendra Kumar Kanjilal our Chairman and Founder member, passed away peacefully at his home after suffering ill health for the last few years. The members of R.G. Kar Appeal fund wish to express their deepest affection and support for his family. His presence, quiet manner and hard work on behalf of the charity that he supported for over 25 years will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace.
The hepatitiis B immunisation programme has been running in Kolkata since 2000 and so far the unsung hero of this charity until now!. Donations from the public has facilitated provision of free immunisation for medical students and nursing students in Kolkata. Initially only medical students at RG Kar Medical College were immunised but after the first year by popular demand the programme was extended to include all the medical colleges. Since 2015 this need for immunisation has been met by local government and the charity has extended this service to nursing students
Clean drinking water is a human right. The charity has provided water purification systems to the students residences, canteen and libraries as well as the peadiatric unit at RG KAR medical college. These systems provide water free from bacteria, and water borne viruses so allow improved well being of students and medical staff.
